Head Coach Scott Frost met with members of the media over video conference on Wednesday ahead of the Iowa game. The Huskers and Hawkeyes meet in Iowa City on Friday with kickoff set for Noon CT.

Frost opened the meeting with an update on the status of Dedrick Mills and the rest of the Husker running backs.

"I feel good about running backs," Frost said. "We'll see on Dedrick, he has practiced this week so it will probably be close with him, but we are hoping he can go."

When asked about Collin Miller, Frost spoke about his role as a leader following his injury against Illinois.

"Collin has been the heart and soul of our team," Frost said. "We have some good leaders, he's been probably the leader of that group.  Just the energy that he brings on top of the playmaking. He'll be traveling with us to the game, and we'll get the leadership from him.

"I'm just glad he's going to be okay long term. Those are scary situations, and I did a lot of praying for him, just care so much about him. We'll function without him but it's going to be good to have him with us."

Frost responded to whether or not he uses Nebraska being the underdog as motivation.

"No, I don't worry about anything like that," he said. "We've got to control what we can control and that's in the building. We didn't play with enough intensity Saturday and we've got to get that fixed. Iowa's a good team. We've played them pretty tough two years in a row and lost a couple at the end. We just need to play that hard and that well to give ourselves a chance."

Frost was also asked about the Husker quarterback situation, starting with a review of performances of Luke McCaffrey and Adrian Martinez this week in practice.

"Both of them had a really good week," Frost said. "We graded everything they did, every snap, and both executed better than they have in practice probably any week this year, so we've got a decision to make. I've said all year I feel great about those guys, they have to play up to their potential. They are both really talented kids that are more than capable of doing everything that we need them to do to play well and win football games."

Frost concluded the session by stating what he wants to see from the quarterback spot on Friday.

"Decision making is No. 1," he said. "We started the (Illinois) game off with a bad decision, a really bad decision that took the air out of our tires last week. A couple of mistakes and turnovers in the red zone a few weeks ago against Northwestern. Those things cost you games in the Big Ten when they're close games. It starts with decision making and making sure that we don't make any mistakes."

The Huskers kick off against Iowa on Friday at Noon (CT). Television coverage will be provided by FOX and radio coverage will be provided by Husker Sports Network.
