The Autumn social season in New York has begun. On the first Wednesday evening of the month, the Boys Club of New York held its annual Fall Celebration at The Loeb Boathouse in Central Park. This event is always a serious and fun gathering, which raises crucial support for New York’s boys and young men. This year’s BCNY fall fundraiser was a New York City-themed cocktail party featured On The Move Entertainment performers and music by DJ Wellnez.
The evening’s Event co-chairs were: Travis Acquavella, Merrill Curtis, Tracey Huff, Alice Ross and Ferebee Taube, Abbie Baratta, Helene Comfort, Lise Evans, and Sarah Saint-Amand.
BCNY’s Executive Director/CEO Stephen Tosh noted in thanking them and the Women’s Board for their continuous efforts through the pandemic, “We have to make an impact supporting our members’ journeys through our clubhouses, as well as through their choices in becoming the young men they want to be.”
The Boys’ Club’s mission is to empower all boys is at the core of this fundraising event, and it was a fantastic celebration of New York City in support of BCNY members. Founded in 1876, the Boys’ Club mission in empowering is by providing diverse programs and a supportive community. BCNY accomplishes this by offering programs in music, STEAM, social and recreational activities, mentoring, academic support and athletics. They deliver this by enriching afterschool and Saturday programs to thousands of boys at their two clubhouse locations in East Harlem and Flushing, and at their Harriman Base Camp in Harriman State Park. BCNY’s open-door policy and $5 membership fee (currently waived due to the pandemic) ensure any boy —enrolled in grades 2-12— to join.
On Friday, October 8th, Hudson Yards unveiled Fleurs de Villes ROSÉ, a curated, self-guided floral trail throughout The Shops in Hudson Yards in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). The Fleurs will run through Sunday October 17th.
Fleurs de Villes ROSÉ brings together 20 of New York City’s top florists to design large scale floral-clad couture mannequins. Gorgeous! The festival of flowers also includes extravagant floral archways and displays at select retail locations, as well as a 7-foot-tall pink ribbon featuring more than 1200 pink roses to raise breast cancer awareness.
“Great floral displays spark joy,” said Stacey Feder, Chief Marketing Officer of Hudson Yards. “We are delighted to partner with Fleurs de Villes to once again transform The Shops into a fashion-inspired, botanical oasis creating a sense of wonder for everyone who visits.” This year’s show promotes both New York City’s great local florists and breast cancer research, in partnership with BCRF.”
The best floral talent in New York City lent their expertise for the 10 day celebration. Participating florists includes The Floratorium, McQueens, Pic and Petal and Damselfly Designs, Alexis Denise Floral Design, boo•kay, Edelweiss Floral Atelier, FDK Florals, Fleur Elise Bkln, Floresta, Flowers by Special Arrangement, Larkspur Botanicals, Flowers, Michael Collins Decor, Ora la Casa de las Flores, Polycarp Flowers, Raven Hollow Guild, Rose Box NYC, Sahola Floral Art & Event Design, Villanueva Designs, Yours Truly Flowers.
Karen Marshall, Co-founder of Fleurs de Villes Inc. pleased and proud of the event said. “Bringing to life 15 stunning floral couture mannequins inspired by and supporting the cause, we know flower lovers everywhere will be in awe of the detail and creativity our local florists bring to this lovely setting.”
The show is open to the public, free of charge. Guests can vote on their favorite floral mannequin and be entered for a chance to win a $500 Hudson Yards Gift Card. Donations to BCRF will also be accepted through an easy QR code on the signs at each installation.
Jewelry Designer Kendra Scott is hosting a pop-up kiosk on the second floor, raising funds for breast cancer research by donating 20% of proceeds from the pop-up to BCRF. Visitors can also shop for fresh blooms from local florists at a pop-up flower market. From last Saturday, October 9th through Saturday the16th, 10% of sales from the flower market will be donated to BCRF.

Happy Happy — On Thursday, September 30th, Carole Delouvrier and husband Philippe hosted a 75th Birthday party at Doubles for Carole’s step-father Marc Rosen, perfume bottle designer, author and Pratt Institute Professor and Trustee.
With a special menu of Smoked Salmon, an entrée of five types of caviar with blinis and a strawberry crepe for desert, the party was pretty posh!
Carole began her loving toast by reading a note from her mom and Marc’s wife of 37 years, film star Arlene Dahl, who was unable to be there. Randy Jones was emcee, and after telling of his friendship with Marc he read birthday wishes from Liza Minnelli, Joan Collins and her husband Percy and Michael Feinstein and his husband Terrance.
Other toasts were offered by Marc’s stepson Lorenzo Lamas and godson Kevin Marshall. Marc thanked friends and family who had come from, Palm Beach, Geneva, Los Angeles, Seattle and Washington to attend. He ended by saying that he was “a very lucky man to have lived the life he had dreamt of.” His only regret: “Not having Arlene there to share the evening.”
Among the guests attending were; Beth Rudin Dewoody, Christopher Barker (son of actor and Arlene’s first husband Lex Barker), Susan Gutfreund, Sharon Sondes and Geoffrey Thomas, Gale Hayman and Dr Richard Bockman, Jackie Weld, Lorenzo Lamas, Marc’s Step-son attended with his fiancé Kenna Smoot; Shining Sung, Drew Butler and Robin Arzon, Judith Hernstadt and Will Roseman, Jeff Sado, Vincent and Mira Ricardel, Donald Stannard, Rona Shuster, Amanda Rosen, Jonathan Rosen and Sara Tool, Ian Jarvis, Charles Mirotznik, Barbara Gyde, Terence Mack and Juliana Terian, Pamela Fiori and Christine McCarthy.
