Texans veteran safety Michael Thomas, an Aldine Nimitz and Stanford graduate, delivered a message about the importance of social justice and police and community relations with Dr. Harry Edwards, a noted sociologist and civil rights activist.
As part of the NFL's Inspire Change initiative, Thomas and Edwards participated in a public service video announcement with the Vera Institute of Justice speaking out against racism.
Thomas is a vice president of the NFL Players Association executive committee and one of the most active players in the NFL on social justice issues.
"Since 2016, all I really wanted to do was be a part of real change for my community and for Black and brown people in America," Thomas said. "Colin (Kaepernick), Eric (Reid), and Kenny (Stills), we knew that this was bigger than us and it didn’t stop in 2016. It doesn’t stop this year.
"It’s just another step, so we have to keep trying to move the sticks, keep trying to progress, keep trying to move forward. That’s all we’re trying to do. We’re trying to create real change.”
