The Mets made a monumental signing on Wednesday when they gave shortstop Francisco Lindor a 10-year, $341 million contract extension on the eve of their first game of the season with the Washington Nationals.
The game was ultimately canceled due to a COVID-19 outbreak among the Nationals’ roster, which subsequently led to the postponement of the entire weekend series.
Regardless, Mets’ owner Steve Cohen and team president Sandy Alderson were set to address the media on Friday, though it didn’t happen and had continued to be pushed back.
However, Cohen responded to a tweet on Sunday, and said that everything was fine and that him and Alderson would be speaking publicly on Monday.
The Mets are slated to play their first matchup of the season on Monday night in Philadelphia, with ace Jacob deGrom on the rubber.
