AMHERST — Beginning Monday, members and guests will again be able to use equipment and studios at Amherst Media for the first time since mid-March.

The reopening comes with limited hours, a requirement that reservations be made in advance and a series of policies that must be followed.

Amherst Media Executive Director Jim Lescault said on Friday that people who come to the 246 College St. site will be required to follow rules, including safe social distancing, wearing masks or facial coverings and sanitizing their hands and workspaces, as well as signing an agreement.

Lescault said that Amherst Media is following U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

“In an effort to comply with CDC regulations and recommendations regarding the COVID-19 virus, we have developed a set of protocols which all individuals entering our building will be asked to read and sign if they are in agreement,” Lescault said.

During the pandemic, the organization restricted the public’s general use of the building to protect the health of staff. In addition, all equipment reservations and use of editing stations were suspended.

Through the pandemic, Amherst Media has continued to broadcast and record government meetings, tape various producer shows and document other events in the community.

For more information about the new policies and procedures, contact Amherst Media at info@amherstmedia.org or 259-3300.
