Love it or hate it, social media is part of daily life in 2020.
Apparently, Michigan falls firmly in the hate corner.
According to a study of Twitter chatter conducted by the data analytics and visualization site thinkbiganalytics.com, Michigan residents have expressed a dislike for social media, while on ironically using social media, more than residents of any other state.
More than 350,000 tweets were tracked over the course of the last month to try and determine sentiment about social media in general in each state. Phrases such as “I hate social media,” “I hate facebook,” “I hate instagram,” “I hate twitter,” “I hate snapchat,” “I hate tiktok,” etc. were considered.
As you can see from the map, the Midwest has the most negative view of social media, with Michigan holding the most negative sentiment.
The top 10 states that dislike social media the most are as follows:
1. Michigan
2. West Virginia
3. Texas
4. Indiana
5. Ohio
6. Illinois
7. New Jersey
8. Georgia
9. Nebraska
10. Alabama
