One of the most notable events that has been discussed across the country in 2020 has been the increase in discussions about social injustice, including topics that involve police departments and diversity.

After the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and others, people across the country, including many Eagles players, voiced their opinions on social media to speak out about social injustice.

One player who has been vocal against social injustice is longtime Eagle defensive end Brandon Graham. Speaking to reporters Sunday, Graham said he is happy there is an ongoing dialogue about how to improve the current situation, and that more people are trying to educate themselves on issues affecting certain communities.

"I am just happy that everybody is rallying around people that want to speak out, trying to learn, and be informed on things that sometimes do not have anything to do with them," Graham said. "They show empathy to others that are going through things. I am just happy that we really are turning the corner on people just opening their ears."

Graham, one of the captains on the team and leader on and off of the field, is glad that there is some progress being made.

“You can only control what you can, but I am happy that people are really opening their eyes and seeing a lot of things that are not right in this world,” Graham added. “Whether it is us as African Americans going through what we are going through, or just people in general, we need to show more love than hate.”

Social justice issues have been brought to the forefront of the NFL, with people such as Commissioner Roger Goodell commenting on issues as they come about.

“We, the NFL, condemn racism and the systematic oppression of Black People,” Goodell said in a statement. “We, the NFL, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest. We, the NFL, believe Black Lives Matter.”
