As protests increase and spread across Iran, state-run media are reflecting the regime’s utter fear of a possible new series of major Iran protests.
News from Iran obtained by the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) indicate that despite the coronavirus outbreak and the regime’s use of this crisis to prevent people from rising up, there have been dozens of protests across the country. These ongoing protests have caused the state-run media to express their concern over a looming uprising.
On Wednesday, villagers of Abolfaz Kianshahr village in southwest Iran protested and clashed with the regime’s agents who had come to demolish their homes. The security forces used pellet guns and fired tear gas to continue with their criminal plan of confiscating people’s lands and houses. The regime’s so-called Bonyad Mostazafan, or Foundation of the Abased, is behind this attack and tries to confiscate people’s lands.
In this regard, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), while strongly condemning the criminal attack by the regime’s repressive forces on poor villagers, underscored that the villagers had committed no offense other than defending their lives and homes against the mullahs and their so-called Foundation of the Abased.
In another development families of the Ukrainian airliner victims, killed when the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) shot down the passenger jet in January, rallied outside the embassy of Ukraine demanding a meeting with the Ukrainian ambassador in Tehran. This happened a day after the regime reluctantly confessed that following the first missile shot at the airliner, the passengers were alive for 19 seconds until the second missile hit the airliner.
In a similar development, locals of the village of Dobb-e Hardan near the city of Ahvaz in Khuzestan Province, southwest Iran, held a rally on Monday protesting the lack of drinking water and demanding water tankers be sent to their village.
In addition, workers of the Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Company continued their strike and protest rally in front of the governorate in the city of Shush in Khuzestan province, southwest Iran, for the 73rd consecutive day.
These ongoing protests across Iran have caused the state-run media to react and show the regime’s utter fear of another series of the nationwide Iran protests, which shook the regime’s foundation in November 2019.
In this regard, the state-run Khabaronline news agency on August 24 wrote: “The political, economic and social situation of our country is sick. Everyone knows the [regime] faces various challenges within the next year.”
The state-run Ebtekar daily, on August 27, wrote: “We are grappling with different crises. From economic crisis and super challenges to water crisis and environmental challenges, corruption and [government’s] inefficiency, regional crisis and crushing sanctions. These crises are all because of our inefficiency. It means that our regional strategy now faces problems, our economic strategy has failed in protecting us from sanctions [effectiveness], our governing system and running the country is costly without having the desired result and our structures are not transparent enough to prevent corruption.”
In addition, the state-run Arman daily on Thursday wrote: “The real social capital, which the public’s trust has damaged. This is the first discussion. The second discussion is what results it will have and unfortunately this is dangerous.”
