DURHAM, N.C.— Kara Lawson has been at the helm of the Duke women's basketball program for a month and a half and this week she met with the media to give an update. Since being hired at Duke on July 11, Lawson has filled out a coaching staff, kicked off basketball workouts, hit the recruiting trail and started building relationships with the 2020-21 team.
"The last couple of weeks we've been able to get all of our staff on campus, which has been a lot of fun," said Lawson. "(We've) had some staff meetings. Obviously, they were working remotely coming from three different schools so now to have all of our assistants on campus here at Duke, involved in the workouts, has been a lot of fun for us and for our players. We started on-court workouts last week, so we are in the middle of the second week of on-court workouts. Our players also started classes with the rest of the Duke students last Monday as well. So, it has been a busy 10 days for our group getting acclimated to the classes in the fall semester and then getting acclimated to the workouts and the new staff. It's been a lot of newness for our players and I think they've handled it really well."
